témavezetés leírása
Ultrafast laser light interacting with an optically polished material surface can undergo one or more of the three phenomena: reflection from the interface, transmission through the interface and absorption within the bulk. At lower laser intensities (near and below material damage threshold), the change in the surface of the material is dependent on the material''s chemical and physical properties, which can be analyzed using different characterization techniques. The significance of such a study is to contribute to the testing and the understanding of optical materials and coatings, which are capable of withstanding the extreme fluences delivered by high power lasers. At higher laser intensities (several orders of magnitude higher than the damage threshold of the material) the optical surface is instantaneously ionized into plasma state instead of progressing through heating induced damage mechanisms, which makes the material properties of secondary importance. This regime is important for the generation of plasma based secondary sources such as those that would be available at ELI-ALPS. Within the scope of this doctoral work we plan to implement imaging based phase-amplitude resolved optical diagnostics to investigate such intensity dependent laser induced changes and explore new ways of data analysis benefiting from AI/ML techniques to extract a deeper understanding from the collected data.
