témavezetés leírása
For innovative businesses located in peripheral regions, several strategic options are available to make their business work, ranging from using exploitational strategies to make use of the strengths of peripheral regions, to compensation strategies to overcome the challenges of doing business in such regions. This research focus on the economic impact of university spin-off companies on peripheral economic regions in Netherland. The objective of the research is to identify and map migration patterns of different types of university spin-offs. University spin-offs are a highly heterogeneous group of companies, in which different subtypes of spin-offs appear to behave in different ways, in terms of growth and spatial pattern. The purpose of this research is to determine what extent do the knowledge links of university spin-off companies with their parent university explain the spatial behaviour of these spin-off companies? Do well established knowledge links help to keep innovative university spin-offs in the region of origin? Regarding research methods, both secondary (university spin-off database) and primary examinations (oriented case study with the eastern Netherlands, interviews, social media scan) are required.
