témavezetés leírása
According to the recent research results, human activities are changing the Earth’s climate in ways that increase the risk to cities. This conclusion is based on the observations of changes in the recent historical climate records, emerging new patterns of climate extremes, and global climate models. Cities and their inhabitants already have begun to experience the effects of climate change. To understand and anticipate these changes will help cities to prepare for a more sustainable future. Which means the cities need to be more resilient to climate-related disasters and need to improve cities’ abilities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, the aim of this research is to conduct a systematic analysis of urban climate and sustainable city, which are noticed in SDG 11 and 13. The other aim of this study is to understand and determine how and why local climatology, meteorology, emission, topographical, and geographical conditions influence urban climate and how cities could be more resilient. The goal of this PhD study is to understand and define the technical factors on which the successful application of sustainable city models depends. Moreover exploring best practices using data science tools and development of a recommendation system. The study will contribute to the identification, development and demonstration of solutions that underpin the successful application of sustainable-resilient city. Schedule of research work til the finish of thesis: 1. semester: Literature review – urban air quality, climate change (historical perspectives, factors affecting urban air quality, climate change past, present and future trends); start methodological development 2. semester: Literature review – sustainable city as a phenomenon (Sustainable cities, urban sustainability, or eco-city (also "ecocity"), practical methods to create sustainable cities), methodological development 3. semester: Literature/Practical part – urban climate management (how cities respond to climate change, urban resilience tools, SMART cities concept), setting up basic models 4. semester: Practical part – sustainable urban planning strategies for mitigation, adaptation to climate change (examination of local Climate-Resilient Pathways and Sustainable Climate and Energy Action Plans) – Complex exam 5. semester: Practical part – exploring best practices using data science tools 6. semester: Practical part – exploring best practices using data science tools 7. semester: Practical part – development of a recommendation system, Thesis writing 8. semester: Practical part – development of a recommendation system, Thesis writing
