Biomass is the most versatile and one of the most important sources of renewable energy, which is inseparable from agricultural production. In addition to the traditional utilization of biomass for food and feed purposes, energy use is becoming more and more important, its local utilization is not a negligible option from the point of view of rural development. By examining farm models of different profiles and sizes, the research shows whether it is economical in case of different agricultural background and, if so, what kind of locally produced raw material, what procedure is used to produce and use one''s own energy. The studies can be very useful for both farmers and decision-makers to develop a farm-, or rural development strategy.
