Successful companies strive to have a lasting and multi-source competitive advantage. Therefore, research and development, knowledge management and innovation are playing an increasingly important role in the life of companies. The rapid introduction of new technologies and innovative solutions is a competitive advantage and can, therefore, be considered as one of the most important sources of efficiency in the modern economy. Companies that operate efficiently in the supply chain generate large amounts of information and data through their activities, which require the use of appropriate information systems to manage and process them. Because of the complexity of these systems, measuring the impact on the operation of a company with objective indicators is a very complex task, but developing and using more accurate estimation and evaluation methods could significantly reduce the risk of such an investment. The research topic focuses on the applicability of information systems in the supply chain, costing calculations for deployment projects, and examining the impact on competitiveness.
