This research aims to explore how digital technologies contribute to improving the economic resilience of agricultural family farms, using Hungary and China as comparative case studies. Digital transformation – including precision farming, IoT devices, artificial intelligence, and blockchain – is increasingly vital for enabling adaptation and sustainability in agricultural systems.
The study will apply a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys of family farms with qualitative interviews of stakeholders such as policymakers and technology providers. The objective is to assess the level of digital adoption, its correlation with resilience indicators (e.g., income stability, productivity), and the influence of policy and infrastructure frameworks.
Findings from this research are expected to inform the design of digital agriculture strategies, especially in supporting small- and medium-sized farms to integrate innovative technologies. The topic contributes to agricultural economics and rural development literature by offering a comparative perspective across European and Asian contexts.
