Recently, one of the most urgent problems is reducing the impact of climate change and its effects on the environment. One of the possible solutions to cope with the elevated CO2 release is its geological storage. In many cases soil gas monitoring is applied during this storage to recognize CO2 leakage. During the present study a monitoring system will be developed and the microbiological changes of soil(s) will be tested due to CO2 influx over different timescales which could help to reveal potential CO2 leakage. Results of the study could contribute to the establishment of a safer method for underground CO2 storage.
