Special varieties or uses of language may often have curious properties. Strong language, for example, often contains constructional idioms that have a peculiar grammar. Headlines and the titles of newspaper articles also represent a distinct register not only in terms of style, but also in terms of grammar. This research aims at a study of these and similar language varieties and the constructions they contain. These often neglected pockets of language may reveal linguistically interesting facts about language that we need not discover if we focus on core phenomena only.
