This research investigates the relationship between gut microbiota and its influence on human decision-making in economic-financial contexts. Building upon evidence of the gut-brain axis, the study examines how the diversity and composition of gut microbiota impact cognitive and emotional processes, particularly those related to decision-making under risk and reward scenarios.
The interdisciplinary approach integrates neuroscience, psychology, microbiology, and economics, employing experimental methods such as microbiota composition analysis, neuropsychological assessments, and behavioral tasks. Participants will undergo interventions, including dietary modifications and supplementation with probiotics and prebiotics, to observe changes in decision-making quality and emotional regulation.
This study aims to identify the neurobiological mechanisms underlying the gut microbiota’s influence on decision-making, addressing gaps in current research. Its findings could pave the way for novel therapeutic and dietary strategies to enhance cognitive performance and decision-making in high-pressure environments.
