Automated vehicles are coming soon to our roads. They need a lot of information about traffic signs, traffic signals, road markings and other traffic engineering equipment. This information might be visual, but the visual capabilities of automated vehicles are different from those of human drivers. The research should deal with the possible changes of requirements for traffic engineering equipment (e.g. position, size, color, information content). Highlight should be placed on the international context, as many of this equipment are different from country to country even in Europe, not to speak about other parts of the world.
