Effect of buildings’ transparent surfaces on climatic parameters of comfort zone

Todays building use more and more window surfaces with the negative effect on the energy use of the building and on the indoor environment (thermal discomfort, visual environment/lighting, etc.) There are a lot of research ongoing related to the physical characteristics of the transparent surfaces and their effect on the energy performance in buildings, especially on the influence on the increasing the thermal load. There are several options to reduce this load as shadowing or using this big surfaces as building integrated photovoltaic panels i.e. semi transparent windows providing electrical energy The physical characteristics like thermal behavior, efficiency, working conditions is already experienced, however the effect of this system on the indoor environment quality is still not considered. The aim of the research is to conduct a quantitative and qualitative analysis of certain indoor environment factors effected by the semi transparent surface and to find optimal circumstances and balance from energetic, IEQ and economic point of view.
