The crisis beginning in 2008 has directed the attention to the insufficiency of the neoclassical theory that has ruled the last decades in economics. The role of politics and nation states has got into the foreground and the nature of the crisis makes the study of the global production cycles indispensable. The different periods of global cycles of capitalist reproduction affect the different national economies and labour markets differently, although the long-term effects are very similar. The playing field of the developmental national state and its administration are to be outlined in these circumstances.
