Description of the research topic:
Nowadays, the economic power centers of Hungary are mostly those big cities that are able to effectively increase their income-generating capacity in cooperation with some significant large company. In addition to the locally generated income, these settlements also used external financing methods in numerous ways (government, European Union subsidies, etc.). The purpose of the research program is to examine the development trajectories of major Hungarian cities after the change of regime, to systematize the factors driving them, with particular regard to funding sources and city strategic decisions. After exploring the theoretical literature, new scientific results can be obtained by processing the examined cities in a case study-like manner and then by comparative analysis.
