Description of the research topic:

Earlier and recent English loanwords in Russian. Anglicisms and Americanisms. The linguistic and extralinguistic reasons for lexical borrowing. The graphic, phonetic, grammatical, derivational, and semantic adaptation of English loanwords. Calques and the phenomenon of loan translation from English into Russian. The question of pseudo-Anglicisms. The role of variants in the adaption of new lexical elements of foreign origin.
