Description of the research topic:
Several international studies have found a strong correlation between the veterinary work-related stressors and the mental or psychological health of veterinarians. Veterinarians have higher rates of anxiety, depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation, whilst they are more reluctant to treat mental illness than the general population. Previous international studies have shown that work-life balance and job satisfaction are very important factors in maintaining a healthy mental status in veterinary profession. Within the framework of the planned research topic, the candidate will carry out an international survey covering several European countries including Hungary, in order to investigate 1) the attitudes of veterinarians towards their work-related stressors and suicidal ideation; 2) whether there is a relationship between different leadership styles and job satisfaction and the quality of organisational culture of leaders and employees; furthermore 3) veterinarians' stress management and the difficulty of coping with emotions. The candidate will analyse and compare data collected from each country and identify similarities and differences between countries
