Description of the research topic:

This PhD topic includes three possible projects. (1) Developing molecular ionization models for strong fields. The aim of this research, which is relevant for the rapidly developing fields of attophysics and attochemistry, is to develop, implement and apply ionization models suitable for molecules in high-intensity laser fields. A related issue is investigating the breakdown of the Frank-Condon principle in strong fields, i.e., determining the distribution of rovibrational states after ionization. (2) Quantum dynamics of molecular rotations in laser fields. The aim of this research is to investigate the laser-induced rotational dynamics (macroscopic alignment and orientation) of different types of molecules (tops), using various molecular models and quantum chemistry methods. The effects of molecular floppyness on the rotational dynamics in the case of weakly-bound complexes can also be explored. (3) Spectroscopy of light-dressed molecules. The structural, optical, and chemical properties of molecules can be changed when interacting with strong laser fields. This can also influence the molecular properties probed by spectroscopy, for example, by changing the usual optical selection rules. The aim of this project is to compute the light-dressed spectra of various molecular species, and explore new possibilities in measuring classically forbidden transitions, laser-induced dynamical control etc.
