Description of the research topic:

The effectiveness of radiosynoviorthesis in chronic synovitis of rheumatoid arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic progressive disease affecting 1% of the population. It diminishes patients' quality of life and reduces their lifespan by 5-10 years. The essence of the disease is chronic synovitis. If synovitis is not eradicated, the synovium infiltrates the cartilage and destroys it. The primary medication for the disease is base therapy, which can be supplemented with biological treatments or locally administered radiosynoviorthesis. During radiosynoviorthesis, the proliferating, thick synovial membrane resembling grape clusters perishes, and the newly formed membrane is thin, fibrotic, does not produce fluid, and does not harm the cartilage.

Objectives of the study:

The aim of the PhD thesis is to analyze and process both retrospective studies conducted over the past 20 years on the effectiveness of radiosynoviorthesis and ongoing prospective studies, in line with the following objectives:

Comparison of short-term and long-term results of Y-90 radiosynoviorthesis in rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Examination of the relationship between objective and subjective scoring systems and total scores.
Investigation of the correlation between patients' age, gender, and the effectiveness of radiosynoviorthesis in RA.
Search for the relationship between the duration of synovitis and the effectiveness of radiosynoviorthesis in RA.
Examination of the correlation between the number of knee punctures before radiosynoviorthesis and its effectiveness in RA.
Investigation of the correlation between the number of intra-articular steroid injections before radiosynoviorthesis and its effectiveness in RA.
Analysis of the relationship between Steinbrocker stage of RA patients and the outcome of radiosynoviorthesis.
Examination of the correlation between the local radiographic stage of the knee joint and the outcome of radiosynoviorthesis in rheumatoid arthritis.
Investigation of the correlation between the activity of rheumatoid arthritis and the effectiveness of radiosynoviorthesis.
Examination of the correlation between local knee joint activity (Tc index) and the effectiveness of radiosynoviorthesis.
Analysis of the relationship between effective base therapy and the effectiveness of radiosynoviorthesis in rheumatoid arthritis.
Investigation of the correlation between steroid therapy and the effectiveness of radiosynoviorthesis in rheumatoid arthritis.
Examination of the relationship between immunological parameters and the effectiveness of radiosynoviorthesis.
Analysis of the impact of local radiographic stage on effectiveness.
Investigation of the relationship between surgeries performed before radiosynoviorthesis and its effectiveness in RA.
Examination of the correlation between the number of knee punctures after radiosynoviorthesis and its effectiveness in RA.
Analysis of the relationship between the number of intra-articular steroid injections after Y-90 radiosynoviorthesis and its effectiveness.
