Description of the research topic:

The examination of changes in the nursing career, understanding the reasons for choosing a nursing career, staying in the profession, and leaving the profession among Hungarian nurses and nursing students is essential.

Organizational culture directly and indirectly influences the determinants of leaving the profession, affecting health (stress) and individual self-esteem. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the possibilities of consciously developing organizational culture as a less costly but effective method for retaining the workforce and protecting health.

The goal is to understand among prospective nursing students what career model they expect in the future from the healthcare sector and the nursing profession.

Another aim is to determine, among those in the nursing profession, the role of organizational culture in workplace stress and leaving the profession through organizational culture assessment, measuring self-esteem, stress, and internal control, as well as measuring the intention to stay in the profession in the following year.

The correlation between workplace atmosphere and stress reinforces the positive influence of the workplace atmosphere on stress management. The better the workplace climate, the lower the level of perceived stress. Therefore, it is advisable to identify through screening techniques those who would participate in stress management programs due to significant anxiety and evaluate its effectiveness in a nursing sample.

Last but not least, it is necessary to uncover additional factors based on international examples that strengthen nursing career choices and retention in Hungary, leading to the successful and effective implementation of the nursing career model.
