Description of the research topic:
Scientifically substantiated fact is that physical and mental health is the most important factor determining the quality of life (Allardt, 1997). According to modern interpretations, health can be maintained, strengthened, or regained throughout life with lifelong tasks and activities (Székely et al.). Among the personal tasks accompanying life related to health, physical activity plays a prominent role, with incorporating sports into lifestyle being emphasized.
Activities labeled under the umbrella term of sports have a positive effect on human health, affecting somatic, psychic, and social functions alike.
Physical activity is not limited to any age group. Therefore, there are conditions of knowledge, skills, and competencies for its practice, the acquisition of which occurs through socialization, both formally (schools, higher education institutions) and informally (family, communities, associations).
The processing of the research topic can focus on various closely related problems, such as:
- Shaping health behavior, issues of health education.
- Examination of the health behavior of different age groups.
- Adaptation of indicators and validated measures of subjective quality of life with a focus on physical activity.
- Examination of the social aspects of physical inactivity as a health-damaging behavior.
Doctoral students choosing the research topic will receive thorough knowledge of indicators of quality of life, the most commonly used statistical methods, and computer software packages for empirical data processing, as well as the opportunity to participate in the research of their supervisors.
