Description of the research topic:
The dissertation (a more complex case study or a series of case studies) can by focused on certain aspects of the phenomenology of religion, with possible emphasis on the practical aspects of historical and living religions, in other words the ritualistic, ethnographical and sociological aspects, aiming to examine certain religious phenomena (e.g. space, time; word, sacrifice; movement, clothing; stone, wood, water) in a defined time period, or based on larger comparative studies. The topic has two possible points of emphasis: on the one hand 1) historical written and material sources, and the religious questions they raise may be examined (under the supervision of Miklós István Földváry) 2) may examine the ritual practice of contemporary religious groups. In this case those aspects of the rituals will be examined that are only accessible through on-the-spot observation (under the supervision of Balázs Déri).
