Description of the research topic:
The history and culture of the Central Asian Turkic heritage is a long-standing field of research in Hungarian Turkology. Since Ármin Vámbéry's journey to Central Asia in 1863, a long line of Hungarian researchers has been studying the history and culture of the Turkic peoples of the region on the basis of Turkish-language sources. The programme intends to continue this tradition by focusing primarily on the periods rich in Turkish texts, from the Timurid era to the present day.
