Description of the research topic:
Nowadays high-quality 3D sensors are emerging and becoming widely available in many industrial applications, from perception of self-driving aerial and terrestrial vehicles, through surveillance, and infrastructure management, until virtual and augmented reality applications. The main objective of the research is to efficiently utilize incomplete measurements of up-to-date sensor (such as Lidars and stereo-cameras) for recognizing various objects and events, for synthetizing intelligent and adaptive environment models by fusing heterogeneous measurement modalities, and for virtually filling missing parts of the measurement-based 3D scene models, considering various features perceived in the environment.
