Description of the research topic:

The introduction and spreading of neuroimaging studies, especially cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), has brought a qualitative improvement in the diagnosis of neurological diseases. The most common complaints/signs/symptoms in infancy and childhood that require neuroimaging are seizure, headache, impaired consciousness, disturbed speech, paresis, microcephaly or macrocephaly. Early diagnosis of congenital brain anomalies, grey and/or white matter disorders, hydrocephalus, cerebrovascular disorders, brain tumours can lead to adequate therapy in most of the cases. The research will focus on the role of brain MRI of different neurological diseases in childhood (epilepsy, cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, leukodystrophies, stroke).
