Abbreviation of location of studies: DEMÉK

Description of the research topic:

The degradation of soil organic matter (SOM) is a key process in the carbon cycle. The degradation of SOM is fundamentally influenced by the number, activity, and diversity of degrading microorganisms. Phospholipid fatty acid analyses performed on soil samples can provide information of soil microbial communities, and studies performed at different seasons on the role of climatic differences.

The litter removal and addition treatments we use model well the effect of mulching on soils. This gives us a better insight into the decomposition processes that can be measured in the soils of the treatments, as well as the mechanism of the accumulation or reduction of organic carbon and nutrients.
