A kutatási téma leírása:
Dog teeth clutches are generally applied to engage gears in gearboxes of either internal combustion engine or electric engine vehicles. The success of the gearshift depends on the gearbox layout, the tooth geometry, the shifting force and the rpm difference during shifting. To understand the topic, three main subsystems must be studied in details: the gear system in the gearbox, the actuating system and the transmission of the power from the gearbox to the wheels.
Study of the shifting mechanism has been started at the department 10 years ago. PhD thesis and MSc diplomas have been realized on synchromesh behavior and spline clutch shiftability.
Goal of the research:
Study of the shiftability of a dog teeth clutch at high rpm difference. Understanding the influence of the parts stiffness on the the shiftability. Finding actuator settings to reach a succesful gearshift.
Work to be done:
Survey of the scientific literature: 1 year
Numerical model building: 1 year
Test rig setup: 0,5 year
Measurements, study and discussion of the results 1 year
Writing the thesis: 0,5 year
