Description of the research topic:
Behavioral, electrophysiological and receptorial studies revelaed that the Wisket rat model developed by the Translational Behavioral Neuroscience Group shows several schizophrenia-related alterations. In the etioloy of schizophrenia the altered gut-brain axis is also involved. The aims of the future studies are to examine the changes at microbiom level in model rats, furthermore, to investigate the antipsychotic-induced alterations. Additionally, we also plan to evaluate the efficacy of pro- and prebiotic adjunctive treatment using behavioral tests and in vitro measurements in model rats.
