Description of the research topic:

Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) can be used for the environmental assessment of chemical technologies. However, decision makers need to examine the relative impact of multiple disciplines. A PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental) risk analysis give a broad scope of the impacts of processes and technologies. It is a suitable tool that identifies factors that have high effects on the investigated technological alternatives. The qualitative results of a PESTLE analysis can be used as an input for subsequent examinations involving multi criteria decision analysis (MCDA). Real waste problems based on membrane methods and distillation are investigated with LCA and other environmental aspects. The research focuses on one of the main goals of the EU Green Deal: to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Carbon footprint analyses are also performed for this purpose. Computer programs (SimaPro, Statistica, Decerns) are available for the research.
