Description of the research topic:

The aim of the study is the identification and characterization of mycoviruses in various, mainly filamentous, fungal groups. Studies include the screening of our fungal strain collections for extrachromosomal genetic elements, which can suggest the presence of viral genomes. Besides, we plan the description of new viral strains, sequencing of viral genomes, and detection of virus particles. Possible ways of virus transmission and the effects of the infection on the fungus will also be studied.
