Comprehensive comparison of raw and bias-corrected data of high-resolution regional climate models over the Carpathian Basin with special focus on climate extremes
Thesis supervisor: Csaba Zsolt Torma
Location of studies (in Hungarian): Department of Meteorology ELTE Abbreviation of location of studies: ELTE
Description of the research topic:
The aim of the doctoral research is to provide a comprehensive comparison of available raw and bias-corrected temperature data of high-resolution regional climate models (RCMs) over the Carpathian Basin, as well as revealing other bias correction techniques along with their possible adaptation. As part of the doctoral work, a comprehensive overlook of the expected temperature change for the Carpathian Basin will be carried out based on the aforementioned RCM datasets with special focus on the extremes. The climate data used during the work will be predominantly selected from the CORDEX (Coordinated Regional climate Downscaling Experiment; Giorgi et al., 2009) database.
