Description of the research topic:
Land cover and land use maps may form a reference base for applications including natural (especially water, forest) and impervious surfaces (urban scale) monitoring, production of statistics for planning and investment, biodiversity, climate change, etc. Medium and high resolution Landsat, Sentinel-2 (and other) remotely sensed images will be processed in regional or country level using subpixel based, random forest classification, machine learning and other new image processing and GIS technologies. Ground truth reference data collection, aerial or drone photo acquision and processing, enhanced image processing methods, field validation are also parts of the research activity.
