Abbreviation of location of studies: SZTE

Description of the research topic:

Human activity and geomorphic processes affect not only the surface of the Earth but indirectly or in some cases even directly the sediment layers near the surface. These changes can be investigated at a point by drilling, along a line by opening exposures, or even in a pseudo 3D mode by using different non-destructive geophysical methods fitted to the actual type of the sedimentary media and aim of application. The different issues related to geomorphology (e.g.: reconstruction of aeolian landform evolution), anthropogenic geomorphology (e.g.: stratigraphy and deformation of flood protection levees), environmental pollution (e.g.: subsurface presence and spreading of DNAPLs), archaeology (e.g.: non-invasive archaeology) require usually the combination of these techniques, which in turn provides methodological results for further applications. In line with the above the aim of the research is to investigate and reconstruct a selected type of environmental or archaeological problem by the comparative application of different methods and by applying field control.
