Description of the research topic:

The goal of the research is to describe the linguistic (semantic and/or grammatic) variability of one or more tropes (metaphor, metonymy, allegory, synaesthesia, symbol among others) or figures of speech (simile, repetition, contrast, rhetorical question, enjambement, rhyme). The investigation applies the theoretical vantage point of cognitive linguistics, but it adopts the methods of corpus linguistics as well, exploring annotated or raw (specific research) corpora. One potential direction of the research can be the elaboration of an annotational schema, another can be the scrutinization of the occurrences of a particular figurative linguistic structure in the corpus/corpora of investigation.
