Description of the research topic:

The topic explores the relations between Korean language teaching and Korean culture in Hungary: the role of culture in language teaching and how culture can be taught through language. Learning a foreign language is closely interrelated with intercultural communicative competence, which is indispensable for a more effective communication. Language learners must be aware of cultural differences, and they must also gain extralingual knowledge in order to become successful intercultural communicators. The research focuses on how the different elements of culture incorporate into the curriculum and teaching materials; how intercultural communicative competence can be developed in Korean language classes; and how these skills can be assessed. The research will analyze the curricula, syllabi and teaching materials, examine the role of the instructor and the language learners’ competence by employing various qualitative and quantitative research methods.
