Description of the research topic:

The main objective of this research work is to evaluate heavy metals on urban trees, in particularly their ability of accumulating heavy metals. Previously we evaluated the dust and heavy metal deposit on the leaves of three different decidious urban tree species (Fraxinus excelsior, Acer pseudoplatanus and Tilia tomentosa). We are planning to study the distribution of these heavy metals (Pb, Fe, Ni, Zn and Cu) within the tree and the soil by taking leaf, flower, fruit, bark, branch, root and soil samples in different times. These samples will be analyzed in the laboratory of the Soil Science Department at the University. The study will be carried out on selected linden tree(s) at the Arboretum of our University Campus and in the laboratory.
