Description of the research topic:

The best healing and recovery of function after a complete or partial organ removal depends largely on the precise execution of the ideal resection done with minimal trauma, which may be the criterion of organ replacement. However, the success of operation is significantly affected by several factors such as the character of abnormality, anatomical variations, surgeries executed earlier, accompanying disease, different intervention technics etc.
The surgical samples give basic information about resection quality, which is also described by the histological report. Nowadays it is only a descriptive or sometimes semi quantitative opinion. The digital pathology and mathematical describing techniques (such as boundary and model based proceedings: symmetry, surface and wave contour variations or measuring fractal dimension completed by machine learning) allow more objective description.
Our goal is to develop mathematical computer programmes which are able to describe the development of resection quality and can make differences between surgical technics and surgeons, further on evaluation of their clinical importance.
