Description of the research topic:

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a multifactorial disease which occurrence as a result of a combinations of genetics, environmental and personal factors. It contributes for high mortality and morbidity within short period of time after its occurrences. The occurrence of VTE is high among some groups of population while the other groups of populations are not as such prone for the development and its complication. Formerly, it was identified as the Roma population are genetically liable for the development of venous thrombosis compared to Hungarian general population. Thus, our current research focuses on to compare genetic and environmental risk factors interactions and VTE risk among Hungarian general and Roma populations, and also in selected, clinically confirmed case groups.
