Description of the research topic:
Silencing the expression or blocking the activity of the ABCB1 multidrug-resistance (MDR) transporter P-glycoprotein prevents transmigration of CD8+ lymphocytes or dendritic cells via the endothelial layers of blood or lymphatic vessels. No information is available yet about the mechanism of how MDR transporters are involved in diapedesis. Therefore, deciphering the role of MDR transporters in the extravasation or homing of immune cells especially the effector and immune-initiator ones, is of great importance in basic science and also in therapy.
