Description of the research topic:
The research theme applies a regional-finace and regional science approach in the field of finance embedded in the framework of financial globalization and financialization. Its aim is to present the spatial dimensions of different segments of financial markets, their institutions and operation, and to assess the effects of the financial sector on territorial development. The research covers the localization strategies of financial market participants and the effects of financial digitization, and presents the regional economics methods that can be used to determine the spatial distribution of financial market participants. It assesses the role of financial institutions and other financial actors in the local and national economy. Research includes, among other things the
- examination of international capital flows
- the growth and spatial differentiation effects of foreign direct investment (FDI)
- examining the development and functions of financial centers
- the role of credit institutions in economic development and their territorial differentiation effects
- analysis of the impact of financial crises and the spatial diffusion of crisis.
- development of business & financial services value chains in emerging economies
- Digitalization of finance (Fintech challenges).
