Description of the research topic:

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) affects millions of patients worldwide and it makes their “everyday life” uncomfortable or impossible. However IBD is a serious problem in health care there is only palliative therapy to obtain. In our work we intend to find potential therapeutical targets in different experimental colitis models by using genetically modified mice and in vitro cell cultures. To get a clear picture about the mechanism of action of the used compounds we apply a very broad spectrum of modern biochemical methods available in our institute.
