Description of the research topic:
In this work the Candidate will develop and coordinate the steps of a 3D high content screening system. The system includes spheroid and organoid (oid) generation, a pre-selection process to prepare oids with uniform properties for microscopy; the automated imaging using high-end confocal and light sheet microscopes available at our labs in Szeged and Helsinki, the image analysis at single cell level and finally phenotypic analysis to determine the cellular composition of the 3D cell aggregates. The pre-selection and image analysis sub-systems are already under development in the BIOMAG lab, the Candidate will harmonize their work and insertion into the pipeline. Based on our collaboration with the Children's Hospital in Heidelberg and the largest pediatric brain tumor research centers in the World, we will apply the developed system to propose personalized precision treatments for childhood brain tumors.
