Description of the research topic:

Investigation of the genetic and epigenetic factors playing roles in the development of diseases needs techniques, which can be used to introduce mutations into or modify the epigenetic status (e.g. DNA-methylation) of specific genomic sites. The goal of our research is the development of methods that use chemically modified oligonucleotides to achieve the desired genetic or epigenetic changes. The purpose of chemical modifications is to increase the binding specificity and in vivo stability of the oligonucleotide.
