Description of the research topic:

Changes in intestinal microbiome composition are associated with inflammatory, metabolic, and malignant disorders. We hypothesized that the microbiome may play a role in a) the severity of acute pancreatitis; b) the development of symptoms in short bowel syndrome. Our aim is 1) to determine the composition and diversity of microbiome in patients with a) different severity of acute pancreatitis; b) short bowel syndrome by genetical sequencing; 2) to study the effect of probiotics administration on a) the occurrence of severe infected pancreatic necrosis; b) the quality of life in short bowel syndrome
