Description of the research topic:

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common malignant disease of the central nervous system. GBM is the most aggressive astrocytoma characterized by uncontrolled proliferation, diffuse tissue invasion and increased angiogenesis and necrosis. This features make the GBM one of the deadliest malignancies.
Major goal of oncology is to identify non-invasive biomarkers indicating the presence or invasiveness of the tumours. Protein biomarkers obtained from serum may be a potential solution. Serum is a rich source of biomarkers, but their concentration might be below the detection limit. Exosomes isolated from serum may enrich the potential candidates allowing them to be identified.
Our aim is to find protein molecules in exosomes isolated from serum those can serve as potential biomarkers during the clinical management of glioma patients.
