Description of the research topic:

Functional gastrointestinal disorders are common illnesses worldwide. Almost twenty percent of the adult population is involved. The pathophysiology of the disease is not completely understood, we do not have universally effective therapeutic tools yet. As a regional clinical center, patient population, diagnostic instrumentation and research background of Neurogastroenterology and Motility Team in Szeged provides an opportunity of translational studies on the pathogenesis of functional gastrointestinal disorders.
