Description of the research topic:
The drug metabolism is investigated in a newly developed liver perfusion method. The core of the development is that the rat liver is not immersed to liquid as in the traditional perfusion methods, but it placed into a vapor chamber that provides environment more like to the physiological ones. During the experiments the sex difference of given drugs in hepatic metabolism are measured, especially focusing on the sex reassignment-induced alterations, the metabolic consequences of which are barely known. The metabolic changes induced by the sex hormone treatment are investigated in a transgender rat model.
