Description of the research topic:

The research topic aims to explore the role of phonological encoding in the establishing orthographic representations. Readers with normal and hearing and hearing disability are investigated using behavioural and neuroscientific (eye-tracking, electrophysiology, brain imaging) techniques in order to study the cognitive and neural changes during orthographic learning. A further question is how the suprasegmental phonological level is related to orthographic learning; this is investigated with participants learning a second language.
