Description of the research topic:

Around the end of the 20th century, a novel 28-amino acid-containing peptide was isolated from the human and the rat stomach. With reference to its main biological effect, i.e. the fact that it can stimulate growth hormone (GH) release and food intake, this peptide was named the GH-releasing peptide (GHRH) or ghrelin Ghrelin has been demonstrated to influence various hypothalamic functions. The central and peripheral administration of ghrelin proved to stimulate the secretion of anterior pituitary hormones such as ACTH, GH and PRL
The mode of NH hormone releasing action of systemically administered ghrelin has not been clarified. The aim of our study is to investigate the effects of ghrelin following central and peripheral administration of oxytocin in a rat model.
