Description of the research topic:

The main goal of the research ist the comparative analysis of cities (regional centres). The comparison is an adequate method for the differentiation of the local and general factors of urban development. For this reason the research covers one regional centre from three countries.
Research questions:
- Which are the local and regional factors of urban development?
- Which are the general factors of urban development?
- Is there a Central-European model of urban development, different from the Western-European model?
- Which role play the local development strategies in urban development?
- How have reacted different cities to the financial crisis from 2008?
The PhD coordinator is university professor in Miskolc (Hungary) and Cluj (Romania), is member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (section IX: Economics and Law), having strong institutional relations with the Institut für Länderkunde Leipzig, Germany.
