Description of the research topic:

During our research we investigate the functional and gene expression changes in the iontransporters of esophageal epithelial cells – focusing on Na+/H+ exchanger - in the presence of toxic agents such as ethanol and cigarette smoke extract. We use animal model and human esophageal cell lines, and detect the functional alterations using fluorescent microscopy, changes in gene expression on mRNA level with qPCR, and with Western-blot on protein level.
