Abbreviation of location of studies: OVT

Description of the research topic:

Detection of changes in the quantity of proteins or small molecules controlling or produced in biochemical processes can lead to the identification of biomarkers used in the diagnosis or targets of treatment in various diseases. The recently observed increase in significance of quantitative proteomics and metabolomics is related to the developments in the instrumentation and data analysis in chromatography, mass spectrometry and bioinformatics, and the more and more sophisticated and targeted application of those. Obtaining statistically valid results with biochemical significance is a challenge due to the high complexity and variability of biological samples and the pitfalls of quantitative mass spectrometry. The task for the new doctoral student is development of novel sample processing, chromatographic (HPLC, UPLC), mass spectrometric and data analysis methods for peptidomic, proteomic and metabolomic studies.
